This design project involved building an alternative digital cluster to replace a traditional analog cluster in a test vehicles for our 3D-HUD. The emphasis was on more personalization, natural, user-centered communication of CAN-bus information that is meaningful to an everyday driver, and a simple, clean aesthetic. We wanted to move away from the skeuomorphic designs that infects current digital cluster designs in the automobile. The final design featured a clean, integrated navi display, a simplified, but enhanced speedometer, and a personalized car avatar for intuitively showing vehicle state and influencing driver behavior.
